Proof of Residency
Proof of residency is required to attend Lincoln Community School or to access tuition to participate in Lincoln’s middle/high school choice program.
For Proof of Residency, the term residency means where the parent/guardian actually lives (residential address, not mailing address)
Residency requirements are not met merely because one owns property or has a business in Lincoln.
Residency requirements are not met merely by living with a homeowner in Lincoln.

Documents required to show proof of residency
All documentation should include the name of the parent/guardian and a valid Lincoln residential address.
Proof of residency from ONE of the following (with Lincoln address):
Current tax bill.
Current mortgage papers/closing statement showing a Lincoln address and the name of the parent or legal guardian, or custodian.
Formal lease showing the name, address and telephone number of the landlord, Lincoln address, and name of the lessee.
A notarized letter from the landlord stating the address of the residence being leased and the name(s) of the lessee(s), along with the landlord's address and telephone number.
AND
Proof of residency from TWO of the following (with Lincoln address):
Valid Vermont driver’s license or Vermont identification card
Valid voter registration card or receipt
Valid Vermont vehicle registration card.
Current utility bill in your name.
Valid Public Aid card.
Valid automobile insurance card.
Bank Statement for last or current month (financial information redacted).
Once proof of residency is provided, the evidence will be evaluated for eligibility determination. Further documentation may be requested if needed included the following:
If the pupil resides in Lincoln with a legal guardian or custodian who is not the child’s parent, the guardian or custodian must provide the following: a court document or a S.R.S. Placement/Payment Authorization Form granting legal custody and control of the pupil to the non-parent.
If the minor pupil's natural parents are divorced and one parent lives outside of Lincoln, the parent may be required to provide legal documents indicating residency to show that the custodial parent is a Lincoln resident. [If both parents have custody, the residence is where either parent lives. If one parent has sole custody, the pupils' residence is only with that parent 16 V.S.A. 1075(a)(1)]
If the pupil resides in Lincoln as an emancipated minor, the natural parent or legal guardian, and the emancipated minor must provide proof of residency.
