We are delighted to welcome students back to school next week! As the Lincoln School District enters its third year, there is much to celebrate, reflect upon, and be grateful for.
Last week, we came together with hundreds of community members at LCS to honor the life of our friend and colleague, Deirdre Zele. The turnout exemplified how many lives Deirdre touched and highlighted the strength and resilience of our community. The unwavering support from this community is truly remarkable, and I feel both honored and grateful to play a small role in it.
This week, we concentrated on preparing for the 2025-2026 school year. The staff has been collaborating to create plans for an exciting year ahead. This includes setting up classrooms, developing a new student assessment plan, and exploring new learning materials. We are thrilled about our new partnership with Shelburne Farms, which is inspired by our student-led sustainability plan. I want to acknowledge the hard work of our amazing staff; they are truly exceptional individuals, and we are fortunate to have them!
Our students are the true motivation behind all our efforts, and we eagerly await the arrival of new students and the return of familiar faces. The first few days will be filled with excitement as students reconnect with friends and explore their classrooms. Our school staff will warmly welcome everyone, joyfully saying, “Look how much you’ve grown!” These moments are what educators look forward to the most!
I want to end by thanking all of the families, mentors, and community members who wrap around our students every day, who help our students feel that sense of belonging in this amazing community. Our students are growing up in a truly special community!
We hope to see everyone at our Welcome Back Ice Cream Social on Monday, August 25th, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at LCS. This event is open not only to LCS students but to ALL Lincoln students!
In the meantime, I’ve shared information below that you may find helpful. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
With appreciation and gratitude,
Amy Cole, Superintendent

2025/26 Bus Routes
Thank you to those who took the time to complete our annual transportation survey. Although we didn’t hear back from everyone, we collected enough information to create the 25/26 bus routes. Route maps and approximate pick-up times for each bus stop can be found on our Transportation website (https://lincolnsd.org/transportation). If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. As always, the first few weeks may require minor adjustments to the routes once we test them out. Please have your student(s) at their stop 10 minutes early during these initial weeks.
* We know that MAUSD is hosting a half-day orientation for all rising 7th and 9th grade students from 8:20 to 11:30 AM on August 26. We will provide transportation for those Lincoln students attending orientation that day.
New Emergency Communication Tool - School Messenger
This year will we be transitioning to using a new tool for sending out emergency communications. We will send a test in September to confirm that we have the right contact information for all LCS students and all middle/high school students who may ride the Lincoln school buses.
School Calendar and Key Dates
The first day of school is Wednesday, August 27th. A PDF of the full school calendar can be viewed and downloaded on our calendar page. You can also use the interactive calendar to see more events: https://lincolnsd.org/calendar
LCS School Day Times (Pick up and Drop off times)
The school day at Lincoln Community School is 8AM - 3 PM.
Students should be dropped off no earlier than 7:35. Breakfast will be ready at 7:45. All students should be in class at 8:00AM for the start of the morning meeting.
Afternoon pick up time is 3 PM on all school days except early release when pick up is at 11:45. Please remain in your car. Do not park and get out, leaving your car unattended in the roundabout.
* Please, please, please watch your speed in the pick-up and drop off area.
Spark After School Program at LCS - Registration is Open!
If you are interested in learning more or registering your child for the after-school program at LCS, please contact Maureen Rotax (mrotax@lincolnsd.org) and she will send you a registration form.
New! Homeroom App for LCS
LCS will no longer be using Facebook to share our news, we are opting for a different
platform that is used throughout many schools. The Homeroom app offers more privacy and security, but still allows our school to share the amazing happenings at LCS. There will be a
new release when you fill out this year’s registration forms. Principal Brooke King created a classroom album called “Lincoln Community School” where we will be posting photos, videos and more. To join the album and get updates when new things are posted, click on this link: https://gethomeroom.com/i/42RHLQAA
Updated Lincoln School District Website
As we have been growing and expanding our work, we recognized that our website had become a bit cluttered, so we took time to clean it up and reorganize the pages. Please take a look, and if you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out to us! www.lincolnsd.org
