August 13, 2024 - Welcome back!
Dear families and friends,
I hope this note finds you enjoying the beauty of summer and excitedly anticipating the upcoming school year. There have been many wonderful things happening over the summer from professional learning to facilities projects. I have had the pleasure of meeting many members of the community that offer their expertise to enrich our school, as well as working with the faculty and staff to learn about all of the amazing opportunities LCS has to offer. As we get closer to the beginning of the school year, I wanted to welcome you to the year ahead and provide you with some important information.
Welcome back to our many dedicated returning staff, we are also happy to introduce many new staff members. We are welcoming LCS alumni, Becca Henry, back as our first grade teacher. Along with a new classroom teacher, we are also welcoming two new essential teachers: librarian/media specialist, Mollie Sprague and Linda Kangro-Lawerence as our new art teacher. Dan Greenleaf will also be joining us teaching 6th grade math and math intervention. We are incredibly lucky to add these new staff to the Lincoln Community School. If you have not already received a welcome letter from your child’s teacher, you can expect this prior to the first day of school.
Here are a few other important things to keep in mind as we come back to school:
Students do not need to bring any school supplies
Students do need a water bottle, backpack, and an extra set of clothes (please label)
Students should dress for the weather, we love to learn and play outdoors!
Supervision begins outside at 7:30 a.m., School begins promptly at 8:00 a.m.
Breakfast (7:45 a.m. or bagged for later) and Lunch (11:30 a.m. k-2, 12:00 p.m. 3-6) are free of charge to all students
All classrooms have a time for snack - please do not pack candy, gum or soda
Dismissal begins at 2:57 p.m. for pickups, and buses usually depart by 3:05 p.m. (expect busing to be a little slower the first couple of weeks)
Soon to come will be a 2024-2025 family handbook. In the meantime, I hope to see you at our outdoor work day this Thursday from 7:00-11:00 a.m. and our Back to School Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 22 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. As always, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, concerns, or just to say hello! I look forward to a wonderful school year together.
